According to statistics, approximately 10000 birds of all kinds collide with airplanes every year. Out of aviation accidents worldwide, 20% are caused by birds colliding with airplanes, posing a significant threat to their safety. The prevention and control of bird strikes on airplanes is listed as a world-class problem.

How to prevent bird strikes to the greatest extent possible and how to optimize disposal to improve safety once bird strikes have also become the focus of people's attention. The takeoff and landing phase of aircraft during near-field flight is a high-risk stage in flight. Monitoring the takeoff and landing process of aircraft has always been a key area of airport safety control. Timely detection and early warning of low altitude hazards that may occur during the landing phase are of great significance for ensuring flight safety.

Technical Status

At present, there are many low altitude target monitoring and recognition systems on the market. Some systems also use radar, TDOA, etc. to detect and distinguish drones and other airborne objects, but cannot recognize birds and other targets; And birds have the characteristics of low altitude flight, fast flight direction change, and small size. The distance that flying birds can be observed by the naked eye is only about 300 meters, which also makes it difficult for radar detection to form effective continuous trajectories. Therefore, it is particularly important for radar to rely on electro-optical detection to complete the remaining tracking and identification after detection.
